Let’s go to Cartagena lickety split!
An overcast day never dampens my sunny mood.
Oh my! Life is truly but a dream. I pranced and I danced through this maze of cobbled alley ways and rainbow walls with wide eyes and a cheshire cat smile. Cartagena is a fairy tale. A princess’s scrapbook. You could feel the romance in the air whirling and twirling in and around the Juliet balconies and flowery flushed colonial walls. These loud walls bounce a brightness off their facades forcing locals and fellow wanderlusters alike into a permanent state of joy!
Cartagena made me wonder… Why oh why have so many of us fallen into domino alignment of neutral toned everything? I’m not afraid of bright and bold colours am I? Didn’t Shakespeare once say “fortune favours the bold”? I friggin’ love colour. But wait! I am clearly guilty of failing at practicing what I preach. As I sit here and type up this blog post from my home in Australia, I turn to my own wardrobe and there right before me is evidence of my own gravitation towards safety colors. As I’ve gotten older, my tastes have seemingly become safer. My wardrobe is frequently stocked with blacks, greys and whites. Where did my vibrant palette go?
Thank goodness there is a city out there that whole heartedly embraces the broad spectrum of colour and serves as a gentle reminder that bright and bold will always be in fashion!
