Oh gosh! This is definitely one of those posts where I have so much to say I don’t even know where to begin!
Breathe Gemma breathe.
Picture this, a secluded villa with a private beach hidden amongst the sky scraping palms on the southern tip of Koh Samui, Thailand. It is heaven on earth. You don’t ever need to leave this secret oasis. You have everything you need – beach, pools, in house chef, mouth watering food, cloud-like beds, the works!
When I first laid eyes on Villa Kalyana, I was spellbound. For a moment I had to pinch myself and double check I hadn’t drifted off into a delicious dream. Nope. What lay before me was a wonderful welcoming cold hard fact (oxymoron much?). The Villa is exactly as I hoped it would be when my heart stared longingly at the glossy website photos all those months ago. I had a “yep, I’ve stepped into the professional photos” moment.
Now it may shock you to hear this, but my all time favourite quality of Villa Kalyana doesn’t lie with its obvious aesthetic delights. No no. It actually lies with the outrageously friendly and passionate staff + villa managers. It’s as if their daily mantra is to ensure that you have the greatest week of your entire life by any means possible!
See, you could be in the most beautiful location in the world for your wedding festivities but have it governed by a bunch of miserable uptight owners who charge through the nose, cloud you with rules and couldn’t care less for your experience. Not Villa Kalyana. Peter Mack (the owner) has built a dream team of delightful staff who you can’t help but hug like long lost family upon your departure. Parting was such sweet sorrow and I smile now just thinking about them.
I couldn’t have asked for a better place to soak up my wedding week festivities. Villa Kalyana will forever feel like my home away from home. It brought all of my loved ones together and is the keeper of some of my most treasured memories to date! I look back on my time with nothing but an overflowing heart and I can not wait to get back there in the (hopefully) not too distant future!
If you’re considering a wedding in Koh Samui, Thailand, do yourself a favour and consider Villa Kalyana. Heck don’t even consider it, lock it in!
I will leave it to the photos that lead up to the big day to finish off this story as they really do capture what words can not express.
Enjoy!
Love Gemma x
